I took Jordan & Meghan to their last day of summer school & dropped them off just after 7 this morning. I raced back up the hill to the old house, expecting to see Eli & Dave there waiting for me. The bobcat was there, but no one else. (well, ok, the neighbor kids were there)
I waited and waited and waited. Finally Dave came & called Eli, who had a flat tire and was now on the road. They got the equipment unloaded and I took one last peek in the house. I found Jordie's baby blanket, and a few random things. Chase Neiberger was with me when a white and black cat jumped out of Jordan's closet and scared the daylights out of me. For the tiniest second I thought it might have been our lost orange kitty, Sweetness. But it wasn't.
The guys were still getting stuff organized, so I went home real quick to wash my hands , freshen up my water, and put the blanket etc in the garage.
I got back just as Eli was crashing through the garage door. Wow, that was crazy.
For some reason I had imagined a dramatic, maybe even sad or somber moment, where Dave would have his arm wrapped around me as we watched our house get knocked down. He was in the bobcat in the back yard, working on the kitchen wall.
So in the end, I stood back and watched in amazement. And honestly, instead of being really sad, I was really kind of excited about this. Every step we take is one step closer to getting a brand new house!!!
Although I will admit that is was pretty strange to see Eli with the backhoe digging up stuff. Every once in a while I could see something that I recognized. At one point he dug up Dalin's room and ended up with Dalin's down comforter stuck in the claws of the backhoe. Eli was digging and grabbing and tearing stuff up, for about 10 minutes, all with the blanket just dangling there. It was a little funny.
So, I think it is official now. We really won't ever have that house again. Goodbye blue house. You were cute.

Dave & Dalin are standing where the kitchen used to be.
This was my brand new stove. I waited 13 years for this beauty. We bought it in November and had it hooked up in December. It was so nice and I loved it! Hey, now I get an even better one!
They started around 8 am, and we left for the day at 2 pm. The only injury sustained was by me. I tripped over some rocks and fell into some dead and very pokey bushes and ended up totally eating it into some cactus. I may be sore for a few days. Dang my klutziness. Too bad it is waaayyy easier to fix the several bob cat tires when they run over jars of spaghetti sauce and nails, than it is to fix up a klutzy Starr.
